Biblical Submission

I remember the days when I used to quickly skim over that verse in the Bible about wives submitting to their husbands. I didn’t want to focus on it at all. The world had told me that men used that verse for control, and honestly, some have.

I got married young, and nothing in me wanted to submit. I equated submission with control, and I was high-strung, independent, and determined to make my own way. Who on earth was I going to let control me? Absolutely no one.

But over time, something shifted. It finally clicked: submission isn’t about control—it’s about surrendering to God. When we submit to our husbands, we’re choosing to trust God’s design for marriage, knowing He has a greater plan. It’s not about giving up our voice, but honoring our husbands and choosing to serve them with love and respect. It’s about following God’s plan for our marriage and trusting that He will lead us through both the highs and lows.

Ephesians 5:22 says, “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.” Submission is not about weakness or being controlled; it’s about strength in surrendering to God’s will for our marriage. It’s about walking in faith, trusting that God will use our hearts to make our marriages stronger, healthier, and more in alignment with His purpose.
